Village Venture Arts and Crafts Faire

Claremont Village, Saturday October 27, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Participants came for arts and crafts, international food, and a children's Halloween Costume Parade. CHERP shared a booth with the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments at the corner of First and College Ave. Click here for more information.

CHERP Community Workshop.

Learn how to make your home more energy efficient. Local experts and homeowners who have completed energy upgrades will be on hand to answer questions and discuss your home with you. Claremont Public Library, 208 N. Harvard Ave., 10 a.m.-noon. Click here for more information.

4th of July Celebration and Parade

Claremont residents visited CHERP's booth in the city of Claremont's 64th annual 4th of July Celebration. There were also performers, a carnival, and an inflatable castle. Sustainable Claremont was recognized as the Honored Group. CHERP volunteers and participants wore CHERP shirts and carried signs in the parade through the village.

Claremont Earth Day Celebration

Organized by Sustainable Claremont, the Interfaith Sustainability Committee, and the city of Claremont, the event featured live music from local bands, how-to demonstrations, speakers, workshops, entertainment, activities for children, green products, and opportunities to get involved.

"Don't Keep Food Down on the Farm: Making the Case for Urban Agriculture" 

Nancy Minte, director of Uncommon Good, will make the case for moving toward urban agriculture, tell of Uncommon Good's recent initiatives, and discuss the organization’s other environmental projects such as building the world's first Superadobe building. This event was part of the Sustainability Dialogue Series.

Energy Upgrade Homeowner Education Workshops 

Participants learned about the "whole house" energy solution, which looks at the entire house as an single system. They learned about benefits such as reduced utility bills, improved house comfort, enhanced indoor air quality, and reduced impact on the environment. Additionally, they learned about Energy Upgrade California and how to earn rebates and incentives for home energy improvement.

July 4th Celebration and Parade, 2011

At this annual event, CHERP showcased their progress in retrofitting homes in Claremont. Residents of Claremont showed up and participated in the parade and other festivities.

Energy Upgrade Open House

Participants visited a CHERP home and saw what 43% energy savings looks like. Sponsored by Sustainable Claremont and Energy Upgrade California.

The Power of Energy Efficiency - A Claremont Celebration 

CHERP and the City of Claremont hosted an informative workshop and celebration about the home energy efficiency work that has been done in the city so far. Claremont has become a regional leader in home energy efficiency and has received many awards for its progress. Participants met with homeowners who have had energy retrofit work done, contractors who have completed projects, and local Energy Champions. There was a yard sign campaign launch, cash awards given for homeowners' completed projects, and a review of the current rebates. See slideshow below for pictures of the event.
